Commemorating Nakba Day 2005 in Miske

Last Independence Day we departed on bus 194 to commemorate the Nakba together with the refugees of Miska.

 A hundred and fifty people gathered inside the Miska school to hear testimonies from different speakers...

including from Safiya Shabita and others.

An olive tree was planted at the site as a symbol of the connection of the refugees to their village, which has been unbroken since the Nakba.

The evening before, we had taken to the streets of Tel Aviv together with friends and drew chalk drawings to commemorate the Nakba on the sidewalks of the city. ("Bring back the refugees!")

"Return = Peace"
