As part of the Ground Truth exhibition events, Zochrot organised a workshop and seminar on Operative Models, in order to study the model in practice. As defined by the Forensic Architecture research agency, an operative model is an analytic instrument that enables theoretical understanding of the way a particular case unfolds, through the examination, simulation, production and presentation of evidence. What are the spatial relations between the model and the reality it describes and represents? Can the model operate beyond its descriptive power and affect the reality in which it is supposedly limited to the task of design and representation? The workshop and seminar will expand and enrich the discussion around the use of a model in the test case of Al-Araqib.
