Meeting the bulldozers at the Baydas House, Shaykh Muwannis (Ramat Aviv)

In 2003 Zochrot tried to prevent the destruction of the Baydas family home which was built about 1900 and was one of the last remaining structures of the village of Shaykh Muwannis (today Ramat Aviv). Efforts to lobby the preservation office at Tel Aviv city hall, the municipal engineer, the council for preservation and the NGO Adam, Teva ve-Din were fruitless. The house was destroyed to make way for a real estate project by the Africa-Israel corporation.
